Hand-Painted in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Marty Hensley, 66, Sheep Hollow Cove NC — painter, quilter, craftswoman. Her final collection before she closes her studio at the end of June.
"I’ve been painting Starry Night since I was fourteen. I just never thought anyone would want to carry it to the grocery store. Turns out, they do — and they come back for more."

Martha "Marty" Hensley, 66
Painter and craftswoman from Sheep Hollow Cove, North Carolina. Marty has been painting impressionist florals and copying the great masters since she was fourteen — taught by her aunt, a retired art teacher in Burnsville. She also quilts, and has been working with fabric her entire life. Three years ago she started painting her favorite masterpieces directly onto tote bags. Now, after over forty years behind the easel, Marty is closing her studio for good at the end of June — this is her final collection.
Why art totes are replacing plain reusable bags
"The reusable bag market has been driven by regulation — twelve US states now ban single-use plastic bags. But the question is no longer whether to carry a reusable bag; it’s which one. Consumers increasingly choose bags that express personal taste and identity. A hand-painted art tote occupies a unique position: it’s functional, foldable, and carries the emotional weight of a curated object — closer to an accessory than a utility item."

100% Money-Back Guarantee Fold it into your purse. Pull it out at the grocery store. Carry it to the farmer’s market. If you don’t love it — for any reason — send it back for a full refund. No questions asked. Marty’s words: "If you don’t love carrying it, send it back. I only want these bags with people who’ll actually use them."
💡
Please note: Every bag is hand-painted individually. Small variations in brushstroke texture, color intensity, and motif placement are natural — that’s not a defect, that’s what real hand-painted art looks like. No two are identical.
